Upstairs Kids Klub (UKK) recognises the promotion of healthy living lifestyles is fundamental to the physical, mental and social well being of all children within our service and also the staff who work within our establishment.
Healthy Eating
At UKK we believe that our children and staff should enjoy a happy and relaxed social atmosphere at snack and meal times. Our snacks and meals are planned and prepared in line with Setting the Table guidelines and cater for all individual dietary needs.
Snacks
Children enjoy a variety of healthy nutritious snacks in all sectors. Children are involved in planning and preparing the snacks and are encouraged to be independent in making choices and clearing up.
Breakfast
Children who attend the morning session are offered a healthy breakfast to start their day of exploring and learning.
Lunch
Parents can choose to provide healthy cold packed lunches for child. If required our staff can provide ideas on suitable healthy packed lunches. Hot nutritious and freshly prepared lunches are provided daily, at an additional cost by Breadwinners. (Breadwinnersnurserycatering.com)
Active Lifestyles
As part of our Vision, Values and Aims we actively promote the pursuit of being active both indoors and outdoors. Children enjoy a wide variety of experiences and opportunities to develop their physical skills, leadership, team working, assessing risk, enjoy the natural environment and building confidence.
- Daily access to outdoor in our play area and local community
- Trips and outings on public transport and our mini bus to explore further afield.
- Links with local school to use outdoor facilities
- Raising awareness of caring for our environment (nature walks, Eco School activities)
- Additional experiences provided by other professionals (dance, sport, etc.)
We firmly believe that being active creates a healthy body and healthy mind.
